'LOOK! PAY ATTENTION!' — the command to attend

motifsPhase 8
How often is this reported?
Unquantified in surveys but among the most verbatim-stable lines across four decades of reports, from McKenna's lectures to the Meyer corpus to r/DMT.

Description

The most repeated line of dialogue in the literature. McKenna's elves say it verbatim — 'Look at this! Look at this!' — as they thrust objects forward; Meyer-corpus reports and community accounts echo the same imperative, sometimes as pure pressure without words: attention is grabbed, aimed, and held. The command often precedes the download or the demonstration, as if attention itself were the channel being opened.

Interpretations

Experiencers report it as urgency from the other side; researchers note that hyper-salience — everything demanding attention — is a signature of the state, and a personified 'LOOK!' is what hyper-salience sounds like.

What the sources say

'Look at this! Look at this!' — the elves' cry as they present sung objects (Tryptamine Hallucinogens and Consciousness).
